Dona Kay Rule

Her entire life, Dona Kay Rule has always been involved in horses in one way or another. Whether showing, barrel racing, or roping - she was born into it. Her father rode bareback horses and bulls and, in his later years, was an avid team roper.

In the late 1970s, Dona Kay worked as an assistant to horse trainer Billy Perrin in Antlers, Oklahoma before moving back to Oklahoma City. She then married John Rule and they purchased National Saddlery in 1980. Together, Dona Kay and John have two children and two grandchildren.

John and Dona Kay worked together at National Saddlery for 30 years before selling the saddlery and building their ranch in Minco, Oklahoma. Throughout the years, Dona Kay has continued to train barrel horses and rope.

As the kids became more independent, Dona Kay had more time to devote to herself and competing in rodeos. Since then, she has won many titles and qualified for the WPRA National Finals nine times in multiple events. More recently, she earned her way to her first trip to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2019. She competes on a sorrel Quarter Horse named High Valor. During their first trip to the NRF, Valor was named the 2019 Purina Horse of the Year presented by the American Quarter Horse Association for barrel racing.

Annie Hasselbalch

Annie Hasselbalch resides in Bennet, Nebraska and competes in barrel racing. Her program focuses on the development of the progeny to raise into solid competitors that are well-broke, business-minded and user-friendly.

Annie enjoys raising, training and competing on horses that she has raised.  Over the years, Annie has purchased mares that are proven in the barrel arena before they head to the broodmare pen. Her mother, Suzanne, is the key to making it all work as she keeps care of the babies and mares and makes sure everyone is respectful and ready to work when it is their time.

Annie quoted “The Jergens Equine team has been instrumental in educating and assisting us from everything from foaling to emergency care, their expertise and compassion gives us invaluable peace-of-mind.”
